"You Were Here Before You Even Knew", our third album, out now!
Boise, Idaho’s Neocentrics have been on the front lines of the DIY indie scene for quite some time now, marked by growth as not just individuals, but also musicians. In the post-Built To Spill, not-so-little-city era that Boise finds itself in, a handful of projects bring a modern energy that sets the generations apart, with Neocentrics being one of them. Led by guitarist and vocalist Evan Zurilgen, 'centrics further set themselves apart with their outsider-inspired conceptual themes and noisy compositions, particularly demonstrated on the band’s recently-released third studio album, “You Were Here Before You Even Knew". While the PNW indie rock band certainly has the mechanical talent to execute genre-defining progressions and solos, there is something deeper; something closer to the jarring vulnerabilities of Daniel Johnston as well as those found in the post-punk genre.
Accompanying Zurilgen currently is guitarist Quinn Carrier, bassist Wyatt Rigdon, drummer Randy McCurdy, and keyboardist Wyatt Sherod, who each have played or currently play in other projects. They make up a band who care about organizing and engaging with their local scene. ~ Gus Marsden, Second Brain
